Ingredients

  • Lime wedges
  • To Garnish:
  • Pinch garam masala
  • 1 cup half and half
  • Add before Serving;
  • ½ tsp. onion powder
  • For the Ginger/Garlic/Chili Paste:
  • 1 inch piece ginger, peeled
  • 2 dry, whole red chiles, preferably Kashmiri red chiles-deseeded and soaked for 10 minutes in warm water and then drained
  • 2-3 tbsp. fresh cilantro/coriander, fully chopped
  • 1 tsp. ground coriander
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup whole unskineed black lentils
  • ½ cup red kidney beans
  • For the Dal
  • 2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)-or use regular butter
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp. channa dal
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • ½ tsp. red chili powder
  • 1 tsp. roasted cumin powder
  • 2 tbsp. kasoori methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt, or to taste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • ½ tesp. Garam masala
  • 2/3 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • Cilantro, chopped
  • Yogurt
  • ½. Tsp. aamchoor powder (dried mango powder)
  • ½ tsp. black salt
  • Red onion, chopped finely
